Hi, my name is Michael and I have been working with designs for digital media since I made my first company in 1996.
I see myself primarily as a designer, and my approach to front-end development is to merge design-principles with the dynamic possibilities that that digital media has to offer. In that regard, I see my abilities in both design and coding as a unique strength. My specific skills are listed to the right, or below if you’re reading this in a narrow browser window.
Besides digital media I have also worked with brand and visual identity design and development. Both redesign of already established brands or the development of totally new concepts. The structured thinking of digital design systems lends itself very well to the development of brand bibles and design guides, and I have found that development in one field inspires the other.
As much as I love designing for digital media, I have a soft spot for print. There is a special satisfaction in having a finished product in your hands, and I love working with prints as often as possible. I have made designs from small flyers to large outdoor displays. Below you can see samples of print designs and other design projects that I haven’t yet been able to present in any of my cases. For any other examples of my works, kindly see my portfolio.
My skils and experiences
Semantic HTML for template or prototype development.
CSS and SCSS
Building comprehensive design systems with variables and arrays for fast development and maintenance.
Authoring small helper scripts or adjusting functions to suit web-solutions.
PHP for WordPress
Custom theme development for clients to support their corporate identity and, strategic and tactical goals.
Ebook development for Epub and Mobi solutions
UI and UX design
Adobe XD, Sketch and Figma
Used for design of the user interface and for development of wireframes, interactive prototypes and other UX related products.
Design of graphical elements, usually embedded SVG illustration for logos, icons or short animations.
My designer work-horse, used for photo optimization and manipulation, graphic design, mock-ups, concept development, visualization etc.
Adobe Premiere Pro
Video edition, grading and lightweight effects for embedded videos or short looping films for local hosting.
Essential for almost any print design. It’s used in anything from small brochures or flyers, to large magazines or billboard posters. It is also the basis for development of Ebooks.
Graphic elements, illustrations and all kinds of vector based content – a real workhorse for me when designing for print.
Grading and preparing photos for prints. I also use it for more creative works like cover illustrations and the like
Primary role is maintenance and development of the news website.
